TALL TALES AT DUART
CASTLE
During the summer, visitors to Duart were further
entertained
by Scot An Sgeulaichie - a traditional storyteller.

Scot told stories to anyone who wanted to listen
- and many did - in every corner of Duart.

Murderous tales of Lachlan Lubanach kidnapping the Lord of
the Isles,
and then asking to marry his daughter
The famous tale of the Lady rock
upon which Lachlan's wife was left to drown.

The romantic tale of her rescue by her kinsmen,
and the subsequent stabbing of Lachlan
when he visited Edinburgh months later.

Dressed in the plaid, with long flowing locks and a sparkle
in his eyes, Scot told his tales to the accompaniment of a lap harp, which he
played himself. Many listened with bated breath, between roars of laughter and
gasps of amazement. Clearly he captured the minds and hearts of all who
listened.

..... here he is telling tales in the courtyard, under the
rowan tree
planted by Sir Fitzroy Maclean, the 26th chief, on his hundreth birthday.
