from the 2002 Gathering ...
Many Macleans travelled around the
world to be with their chief for the gathering. The 'week' began on Wednesday
with outings to places of interest, meetings of committees, and social
get-togethers of all kinds. On Saturday the somewhat varied, and often damp
weather, cleared sufficiently for all to enjoy a day at Duart. Entertainment
was laid on just below the famous ramparts, gifts were snapped up at the shop,
and refreshments were consumed in the tearoom. The highlight of the afternoon
was the group photograph - with over 850 persons present - and the walk past
with the pipe band, followed by the chief's speech to his clan.
