FILMING FOR THE "CLANS of SCOTLAND"

Last summer the tv group Mentorn Scotland were at Duart Castle to film Sir Lachlan for the forthcoming series on the Clans of Scotland. This follows their successful series broadcast on BBC2 in the winter of 2007. They spent most of Friday at the castle having already filmed in other parts of Mull, including Tobermory, where they investigated the story of the wrecked Spanish galleon.

The series, which follows on from the 'Highland Clans' series shown last year, will include programmes about the Camerons and the Stewarts.

Much of the interview took place on the wall walk of Duart castle, from where presenter Paul Murton questioned the chief about the role of Duart within the clan, the reasons for the clans decline from power, and why the Macleans had not reached the same positions of power as the Campbells.

As with any filming there are always delays between shots, and retakes from a different viewpoint.

The view from the wallwalk was superb that day. It was clear all the way to Ben Nevis.

Later, filming moved to the Banqueting Hall where the role of Sir Fitzroy in the restoration of the castle was discussed.

The two Richards manned the camera and the sound equipment deftly and expertly.

The series was shown autumn 2008 on BBC2 under the title 'Clans of Scotland'
