Mull Theatre presents Opium Eater 8pm.
Tickets £8/£6. Suitable for children aged 12+. Available in advance or at the door. Tues 3rd Aug.
It’s Edinburgh, 1820, and Thomas De Quincey, the flawed English man of letters and laudanum addict, sits shivering in his dingy lodgings in the Grassmarket. Driven by demons from without and within, he scribbles desperately to meet a deadline which has already passed and waits on his simple-minded servant Willie to bring him the laudanum he craves. Laugh-out loud funny and deeply moving, this is an utterly compelling portrait of a bizarre and symbiotic relationship.

This fantastic group of Scottish women will illustrate in Gaelic song the ancient tradition of tweed production, from the sheep to the finished garment. Plus, hear historical songs of love & war, tragedy & comedy, chat to the women and have a bash at waulking!
