SUMMER EVENTS AT DUART CASTLE
2008
There will be a number of events at Duart over the summer to entertain,
educate and amuse you all.
Make a note of these in your diary in order that you don't miss out.
Unless otherwise mentioned, all events are free to people visiting the castle.
Sunday 25th May
Scott AnSgeulaiche
Traditional Storyteller Scott will be telling stories in the castle, of
Macleans through out the centuries from 11am to 4pm. He accompanies some of his
stories with his unique lap harp. Scott will also demonstrate the wearing of
the plaid.
Tuesday 24th June
An Evening Tour of Duart Castle
Enjoy an evening tour of Duart with the Chief of the Clan Maclean. This will be
a small group tour and will include parts of the private side of the Castle.
Numbers are limited so pre-booking via the giftshop@duart-castle.com is
advised.
Monday 30th June to Sunday 6th July
Mendelssohn on Mull Festival
Mendelssohn on Mull is a charity bringing young and gifted musicians to play
throughout the week of 30th June to 6th July at various venues on the island.
Thursday 3rd July
Mendelssohn on Mull
Concert in the Banqueting Hall at 19.30 The concert at Duart Castle will
include music by Mozart, Bartok, and Mendelssohn.
Friday 4th July
Mendelssohn on Mull
The Premier of 'Apparitions' The premier of 'Apparitions', a late night music
event by the composer Stephen Montague to mark the 20th Anniversary of the
Festival Thursday
10th July
Treasure Hunt
Hunt around the castle to solve the clues, find the treasure and finally
collect a small reward. From 10.30am onwards.
Wednesday 16th July
Orienteering Day
Navigate your way around the castle and grounds using your map to find as many
orienteering markers as possible. Do this with your family and friends, or by
yourself. Suitable for all ages.
Tuesday 22nd July

Pipe Band from New South Wales, Australia.
The Pipe Band who are on a tour of Scotland will be playing in the grounds of
the Castle in the afternoon of the 5th August.
