The 'other' Duart coach.

The luxury train - The Northern Belle - modelled on the 30's Belle series of trains, has christened its latest coach "Duart", in honour of the long association between the castle and the Northern Belle excursions.

Sir Lachlan with the new coach

At a ceremony on the train at Oban station, Sir Lachlan welcomed the travellers, saying “We are delighted to hear that the name of Duart will be carried on the Northern Belle. We thoroughly enjoy welcoming the train journey’s passengers to Duart Castle and we are greatly appreciative of such a wonderful gesture. It is a pleasure to be on board the Northern Belle.”

The passengers then boarded the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry MV Isle of Mull for their trip to Craignure, and thence to Duart castle where they had an extended tour of the castle, later visiting the tea rooms and gift shop.
